MSM: Favorites things Winter box

Happy Monday everyone!! Christmas is a week away and it will be officially winter this week! I cannot believe how fast time has flown.

I haven’t been super great at blogging as moving was crazy and we are still in between homes so I haven’t really had time to sit and collect my thoughts enough to blog!

I’m back today with one of my favorite collaborations – Mom Style Monday favorite things box trade!

This month the theme was Winter Favorites and it was so much fun! I got to put together a box for Madeline over at Caseyland. I love Christmas and winter related things so it was super fun to put together!

Britt over at My Little Sunshines sent me my box and it was so cute!! She sent over my favorite holiday treat, some awesome hair product, and a some fun kitchen tools!

I love chocolate oranges so I was so excited when I opened her package. I know some people think they are gross, but I love the flavor combination!

I haven’t had a chance to use this deep conditioner, mainly because I don’t wash my hair super often, but as it gets colder and drier I am really looking forward to give my hair some extra help!

Before I got Brit’s package of favorite things I had been saying how I wish I had a spoon holder because I never have a good place to put spoons or knives when I’m cooking! I’m super excited to use it! I already used my spatula to make cookies for my kids at church. I love thick sturdy spatulas ( I’m weird, I know) so this one is perfect and the gold and green is so fun for the holidays!

As always if you’re interested in joining the next Mom Style Monday you can sign up at either Kiana’s or Madeline’s blog.

If you want to participate in the next favorite box trade you can sign up here. I love doing it because it’s like your own little online favorite things party!

And be sure and check out all the other winter favorites everyone got!!

Mom Style Monday // Get Ready With Me

Happy Monday!! Today I’m doing a little different post and showing you my most used items that I use to get ready every day. I sometimes talked about the products I love on my insta stories, but I haven’t done a post about them so I thought it would be fun to join some of my mom friends and share what I use and love to help me get ready in the mornings. There you have it, those are the 9 things I use to get ready 9/10 times. It’s nothing fancy and all drug store products and it works great for me. I don’t like spending a ton on beauty products, but I also want to look nice and put together and these are some of the things I’ve fallen in love with.First is my lotion, I have dry, sensitive skin and Cetaphil is a company I have used since I was in high school. I love their lotion so much! It doesn’t irritate my skin and it moisturizers it super well. Second up is my skin tone evener by hard candy. I have red splotchy skin and this little lotion does wonders for making my skin look even. I have started wearing a lot less foundation now that I use this! Third is this awesome concealer stick. I use this instead of foundation most days and it is so great! I put some under my eyes, on my nose and forehead and then a couple swipes on my cheek and then I blend it all in with my brush. I have a few different brushes, but the brush in the above picture is an ELF brush that I love! It spread concealer and foundation really well and helps me have a smooth looking face! I have my eyebrows microbladed, but I use this ELF eyebrow pencil when I need to fill them in. It is one of my favorite drug store eyebrow products. I use a couple different Mascaras, but Lash Paradise by L’Oréal is one of my favorites. It gives me thick full eyelashes which is great when you have naturally blonde eyelashes! Because I do have lighter skin and hair I love using eyeliner. My go to is this brown L’Oréal stick. It’s cheap and goes on really clean and smooth! Last but not least is my favorite dry shampoo! I use dry shampoo pretty much every day that I don’t wash my hair. It is my saving grace as a busy mom who often doesn’t have time to “do” my hair every day. Batiste is one of my favorite brands, it leaves my hair looking fresh without some of the residue that dry shampoo can have. So there it is, my daily get ready routine. It takes me maybe 10 minutes including hair to use these products which is great because any longer than that and my kids will have gotten into something they shouldn’t, haha, #momlife. I don’t always get ready, but it’s amazing what taking 5 min to get ready will do for my attitude throughout the day. If I take some time for myself and get dressed and put even a small amount of makeup on, I feel a lot better about myself and I honestly get more done during the day! You can check out how some of my other mom friends get ready below!

MSM: Fall Favorites Box

Happy Monday everyone!! The weather started to feel like fall this weekend and I am loving every minute of it! It’s just in time for this month’s Mom Style Monday favorite things box trade!

This month the theme was Fall Favorites and it was so much fun! I got to put together a box for Britt over at My Little Sunshines. I love all things fall and so I had a hard time narrowing down what to send, but I sent over some fun fall decorations and other things. You can head over to her blog to check it out!

Madeline from Caseyland sent me my box and it was so cute!! She sent over the most darling blanket scarf, a beautiful matte lipstick, and the perfect ingredients for pumpkin cookies!!

I’m still learning how to use blanket scarfs, but this plaid pattern is so perfect for fall. I’m so excited to pair it with jeans and boots!

The matte lipstick she sent me is so amazing and of course I’ve already lost it once #momlife! Thankfully it was just under my seat in the car. I love it because it is matte, but it goes on so smooth and isn’t sticky at all!

She also sent over spice cake, pumpkin purée and chocolate chips. I don’t know how she knew, but chocolate chip pumpkin cookies are my favorite! I’ve never made them with spice cake, but I love cake mix cookies and spice cake so I know they’re going to be delicious.

As always if you’re interested in joining the next Mom Style Monday you can sign up at either Kiana’s or Madeline’s blog.

If you want to participate in the next favorite box trade you can sign up here.

Whiter Teeth made easy with at Home Teeth Whitening

Am I the only one who feels like it has been a whirlwind of a summer? Between work and family and trips and the crazy decision to remodel our kitchen (more on that later) I feel like summer was 2 seconds long this year. Thankfully we still have some time to go, but it always feels weird going into Hobby Lobby and seeing pumpkins at the end of July!

With all the fun and crazy happenings, this summer I have been trying to do a better job of taking care of myself and my body. While I haven’t always done great, umm Chicago popcorn mix anyone??, it has been a good to take time to evaluate where I’m at mentally, physically, spiritually, etc., and find ways I can boost myself. Smile Brilliant reached out to me to see if I would be interested in trying out they’re at home teeth whitening products and I thought it would be great as a little self-care boost.

Not everyone feels the need to have whiter teeth and people who whiten their teeth do it for a variety of reasons. I’ve attempted to whiten my teeth with a variety of products over the years like whitening toothpaste or whitening strips. For me it is a mixture of reasons. I definitely like having white teeth for appearance reasons and having whiter teeth helps me take better care of them, oddly enough. It gives me a little more incentive to keep them white by practicing better oral hygiene. As vain as it might sound, having whiter teeth also helps boost my confidence and I feel better about my smile in general, which is never a bad thing!

Smile Brilliant Teeth Whitening Kit
Before saying yes to reviewing their products I did some research and one of the reasons I was really intrigued by Smile Brilliant is their custom whitening trays. I have used so many of the classic whitening strips and they honestly drove me crazy! I’m not sure they really did anything for my teeth because the strips rarely stayed on and I think most of the solution ended up in other areas of my mouth, i.e. numbing my tongue.

Another thing I loved is how open and honest they were about their products. I loved that they answered customer questions like whether or not teeth whitening is safe for your teeth. Their answers are clear and I love that they provided scientific evidence to back their product (and yes, it is safe for your teeth!) They have great information and I felt really comfortable working with them.

Smile Brilliant Teeth Whitening Process

Once you decide on Smile Brilliant the first thing they do is send you a kit to create impressions of your teeth. I was a little nervous doing these because I didn’t want to mess it up and have to do it again, but they had really easy clear directions that helped a lot!

Teeth Whitening Kit up close
The impression kit comes with a paste and a catalyst that you mix together (don’t worry they send an extra if you mess up and if you mess the extra up you can get more!) for about a minute. It turns into something like thick play dough that you roll up and stick into the tray. Once you have it in the tray you stick it in your mouth and bite down and hold for a few minutes until it is firm. It will feel a little weird pulling them out because the stuff does firm up, but once it’s out it’s pretty cool to see the impressions of all your teeth! After you’ve done both the top and bottom you simply put them in the included and prepaid mailer and ship them off.

Teeth whitening impression kit instructions.jpg
I have to say the process made me a little nervous. I was worried I didn’t do them right and apprehensive about the trays but I was blown away when my custom fit trays arrived a couple weeks later. I put them on and honestly, they fit like a glove! But not any glove, like a fancy leather glove that molds to your hand type of glove. I know, cheesy, but seriously these trays are amazing. They were perfectly snug and they are made out of a soft, flexible material so I really didn’t feel like I had them on which was wonderful.

Up Close Smile 2

As you can see from my before photo my teeth aren’t super yellow, but they could definitely use some work!

I was so excited I tested them out that night! In the original kit for the impressions they also sent the teeth whitening gel and a de-sensitizing gel along with instructions. Once again, I loved how simple and easy to follow the directions were. For each treatment, you take the whitening gel and spread a small amount on your trays. It is pretty simple to do because the gel comes in a syringe letting you evenly squeeze out the gel. Once you’ve put the gel in your trays all you do is put them in your mouth and carry on. The suggested minimum is 15 min and you can leave them in for up to 3 hours. I usually put mine in and then hop in the bath with my iPad and watch a show. On average, I leave mine in for about 90 minutes before bed.

After you are done whitening pull the trays out and rinse and brush your teeth normally. Then add the desensitizing gel to your trays and leave them in for about 10-15 min. This helps your teeth rehydrate and keeps them from being too sensitive during the whitening process. Once you are done pull them out and rinse the trays, but don’t rinse your teeth. If you really want to you can, but if it doesn’t bother you leaving the leftover desensitizing gel on your teeth overnight will help any sensitivity issues you are having that much more.

For the first couple weeks, I whitened my teeth every other night and then cut back to a couple times a week. To be completely honest I saw a difference in my teeth after the first couple of sessions and I was really impressed. I’ve never had bright white teeth even after using other whitening solutions, so to have noticeable whiter teeth after just a couple hours of using Smile Brilliant was amazing. I did have some sensitivity on my gums, but it wasn’t too bad. Smile Brilliant has a very thorough FAQ on their site addressing all sorts of questions and tips such as what to do if your gums hurt while using their product.

My teeth are so much whiter now! No Photoshop!

Overall, I was so incredibly impressed with Smile Brilliant. They are really easy to work with and have wonderful support and resources on their website. Their instructions were clear and easy to follow, which is a huge plus in my book. And, in my opinion their product delivers.
Obviously not everyone’s teeth are the same and this whitening system might not work for everyone, but they have a variety of options and so many people have successfully whitened their teeth using the Smile Brilliant system so if you are looking to whiten your teeth I would highly recommend giving them a shot.

AND because I loved working with Smile Brilliant I teamed up with them to give you guys the chance to win your own teeth whitening kit! For those of you who are new to the blog Mommy Style Monday or #msm on Instagram is a fun collaboration of mom’s talking about different things from how we do park days to our favorite mom fashion finds. I love joining in when I can because it’s so fun to see what other moms are up to and it helps me record what I’m doing in my daily mom life!

This week’s post is all about the 4th of July and our favorite mom friendly holidays outfits. I love the 4th of July and am always keeping my eye open for fun 4th of July outfits.

I have a lot I love so I thought it would be fun to show you a couple of my favorite patriotic momiforms!

First up is this fun dress. I found it over on Neesees dresses and had to add it to my collection! I love the stripes with the stars and the fun ruffle.

It’s lightweight and perfect for hot summer days. It is long enough where I can chase my kids without feeling like I’m exposing myself and I can easily dress it up for date night or church with a cute pair of sandals.

The second outfit is this fun “In God We Trust” shirt that I grabbed from Lettie Boutique. I thought it was so cute and something I could wear all year.

I love the baseball sleeves and it is one of the comfiest t-shirts I own! I wore it for a family picture and then out to dinner with my siblings the other night. It is perfect to pair with jeans or shorts!

Pretty soon I might have to start wearing all my patriotic shirts year round so I get to use them all, haha!

Are you in to patriotic clothes or how do you celebrate the 4th? However you do it, I hope you have a wonderful and safe holiday tomorrow! And be sure and stop by all the other bloggers to see their cute patriotic mom outfits!

Mommy Style Monday // Favorite Things Box Summer Edition

Happy Monday everyone! I have been a little MIA from the blog lately as we have a lot of house projects going on, etc! I’m hoping to get back to blogging more consistently as I have a bunch of posts I’m behind on right now – eek!

Today I am here though (yay!) with Mommy Style Monday. I’ve been doing Mommy Style Monday off and on for a while and I love it because it gives me a chance to connect with other moms and get to see what other moms are doing that they love in their life! This month we did another favorite things box trade and it was so much fun. The theme was fashion / beauty and we had a $20 limit. It’s always challenging to pick out some of your favorite items within a money limit and pick items that you love and hope someone else would love, but it is really fun to put the box together and to see what you get from someone else!

I got my box from the lovely Melissa over at Frolics of Mama Llama. She was so sweet and sent me the funnest box of items she picked up while out thrift shopping. I am a huge love of thrifting so it was fun to see what items she found.

I feel like she and I could definitely be thrift shopping buddies because I loved everything she sent me!

Bright colored shirts summer

These tops are so fun and the bright colors are perfect for summer! I’m a huge fan of having 3/4 length shirts for those breezy summer nights and the pink top is me all the way!

favorite things jewelry

The jewelry pieces she picked out are also super awesome! I’m a big fan of jewelry, but I’m finding as I get older that I lean more towards minimal pieces that have a small element of fun. I have a few bold pieces I love, but my everyday jewelry is really basic. I loved all of the pieces she sent me because they are all things I wear.  I love the color of the bracelet and have so many things I can wear it with!

Earring up close

Dangly earrings are so fun and the neutral colors make these awesome because I can wear them with so many outfits!

feather ring up close

Also this ring is so, so fun! I love funky rings that are unique but still simple and this one fits that description perfectly.

All in all, I loved the box I got and am having so much fun wearing all of my new things. A HUGE thank you to Melissa for her thoughtful box!

I got the pleasure of sending some of my favorite beauty and fashion items over to Madeline at CaseyLand! Be sure and head over there to see what some of the things I love for summer are.

While you’re at it go ahead and make the rounds because there were so many fun moms who participated this month and you’re not going to want to miss their favorite fashion and beauty items!!

Mancessories: Upping your man’s style with JORD Watch + Giveaway

man wearing jord conway series walnut jet black unique wood watch joseph aboud gray suit aviator sunglasses

**A huge thank you to JORD watch for sponsoring this post today. All opinions are 100% my own and as always I only talk about products I truly love and believe in!

Hey guys! Today I’m stepping a little bit out of my normal comfort zone and talking about menswear. It might seem a little random since I normally talk about my kids, home décor, and women’s fashion, but I try to encompass all the different parts of my life, and one of those parts is menswear believe it or not, haha.

My husband isn’t a huge shopper, and I still remember my shock when I got him to not only try on clothes at the GAP, but walk out with new clothes. After 5.5 years of marriage he is somewhat more tolerant of shopping, but it is no where near his favorite thing to do, so I tend to do most of it for him.

He has a fairly simple, laidback, classy style so he is pretty easy to shop for, but it wasn’t always that way. When I first started shopping for him I was never quite sure what to buy because he could be picky and I felt like I had to have him with me or I had to send pictures of clothes so he could approve them before I bought them. Over the last 5 plus years, I’ve gotten better at knowing what things he likes and he’s gotten less picky so I usually feel pretty confident in my purchases.

When it comes to accessories like shoes, socks, watches, belts, etc., his style has changed a few times so I’m not nearly as confident and still find myself sending pictures of dress shoes before I buy them. That might seem silly because dress shoes are dress shoes right? Wrong, accessories might be small and seem insignificant, but I’ve learned they can be game changers when it comes to the overall statement an outfit can make.

I’m getting better at figuring out his style in that category, but I’ve found the best way to rock in the menswear accessories department is to take a product he loves and find variations of said product or products that are really similar in style and make. This takes a lot of the guessing out especially when I find a great brand he loves like JORD wood watches.

man wearing jord conway series walnut jet black unique wood watch joseph aboud gray suit hand in pocket closeup

I first discovered JORD wood watches about a year and a half ago when my husband told me he wanted a wood watch. I think my first thought was “a wood watch? interesting…” It probably wouldn’t have been my first pick, but I checked out the watches he sent me and was decently impressed. They were very cool, but there was something lacking for me so I started researching other companies that sold wood watches which is when I stumbled onto JORD and was honestly blown away. Their watches were beautiful and the quality was amazing. I knew when I bought my husband a wood watch it would come from them. My husband was equally impressed and had a hard time picking out a watch because he loved several of them. (Also, yes this is a sponsored post, but this story is 100% true). Their watches are so awesome my husband went from being an occasional watch wearer to an everyday watch wearer.

So when JORD reached out to me about reviewing one of their current watches, saying yes was a pretty easy decision. I mean, he already has a watch, but just like with women’s accessories, variety in men’s accessories is important because different suits need different watches. I mean, we don’t need to go overboard and buy our men a different watch for every suit they own, but just like certain ties make your outfit pop so can other accessories like watches.

Other than the amazing look of JORD watches we ( my husband and I ) love them for their amazing quality. Both their men’s watches and their women’s watches are the best quality and are handcrafted from natural sustainable material. Yep, you read that right – handcrafted from natural wood. My husband is wearing the Conway Walnut and Jet black watch and I loved reading all the fun facts about it here. Another thing I love about JORD is their transparency. They share about each different type of wood and tell where it comes from, how sustainable it is, and some basic facts about it. That is a quality that is hard to find in companies and something I really appreciate.

Some of the other things I love about JORD are that they will custom size your watch and their sizing is perfect. My husband gave them his wrist size when we ordered and he says it fits great! They also provide great information on how to care for your watch and their packaging is to die for! I may be odd, but I really appreciate great packaging and JORD’s is on point 100 percent.

I know some of you might be thinking that watches are somewhat irrelevant with smart watches and smart phones, etc., but even if your man doesn’t use his watch to tell time they are a great way to add an extra element of class and professionalism to his office wear and everyone could use that!

man wearing jord conway series walnut jet black unique wood watch joseph aboud gray suit aviator sunglasses smiling

AND because I’d hate to leave you hanging here are some more great men’s accessories that add individuality and class to any outfit.

Dress Socks – boring old solid color dress socks are a thing of the past. I know, this surprised me too, especially when my semi-conservative husband came to me and told me he wanted “colorful” dress socks. I about died, but gladly did my best to find him some he’d love. When looking for colorful dress socks my tips are look for bold colors, fun but simple patterns, stripes, or color blocking. I wouldn’t get too crazy and for the office I’d stay away from character socks.

Belts – Belts can be surprisingly classy (and expensive!). My husband’s favorite type of belts are click belts. He loves them because there are no holes to stretch out and the fit is always perfect. Amazon has a great selection of classy ones for a decent price.

Shoes – Dress shoes can add a lot or take away a lot from an outfit, especially a dressier office outfit. They can be an expensive investment, but it is important to keep your shoes in good shape and get new ones when your old ones start to be a drag on your professional look. I let my husband buy his own shoes and his favorite place to get them is Zappos. They have a great selection and decent prices especially for nice brands like Steve Madden (yes they sell men’s dress shoes).

Ties – Ties aren’t always a must have and a lot of professional offices don’t require them. However, some work places do and they are a nice touch especially when interviewing for a new job. I know a lot of people believe price = quality, but to be honest I have gotten my husband some really awesome, classy ties for less than $15 and sometimes I buy them at one of our local grocery stores (gasp!). Personally, I feel the key to ties is keeping them simple. Patterns and stripes are great, but keep the colors simple and classy, and don’t go overboard. Less is more and you don’t have to pay $35 plus to buy a nice tie.

man wearing jord conway series walnut jet black unique wood watch joseph aboud gray suit walking up stairs

If you made it through that, congratulations! I hope some of those tips were helpful and can bring some peace of mind when you are out shopping for the man/men in your life. AND because you are all awesome I have a special treat for you – a JORD watch giveaway! To enter the contest, like my Instagram photo dated today 5/4/17 and click this giveaway link for a chance to win a $100 gift voucher toward any watch. Easter Pictures and Life Updates

Easter Pictures Family photo

After church on Easter Sunday we snapped a few family pictures so I thought I’d share them with some family updates! I was glad we got a few good ones, but I think my favorite photos are the “not so good” ones.

These two crack me up because Amelia is the sweetest, most patient little girl until she isn’t and then she lets you know how unhappy she is!

Easter Pictures pouting baby pink dress

She cheered up once she got the step to herself… Amelia is a little firecracker and it is so fun to watch her grow! She is 14.5 months and full of energy. She isn’t walking, but can climb halfway up the slide at the park and stand by herself on our memory foam mattress, so you know… She is into everything and can get around pretty fast without walking so I have to make sure I keep things up and doors shut! She is so happy (most of the time:) ) and loves her dad and playing with her brother. She is warming up to the dogs, but is not their biggest fan.

Carter got kicked off the steps by Amelia, so I didn’t get an individual picture of him, but I love these because he is trying to hard to be sweet and loving to Amelia. He is learning that sometimes being a big brother means putting up with hair pulling and sharing toys you really don’t want to share, but he is doing a great job! Carter loves riding his bike and has gotten really fast! We have to jog to keep up with him these days. He loves swimming and playing outside and can’t wait until summer!

Just an idea of how family pictures really go ;)! Laren is still working hard these days. He made it through his first year of graduate school and has 1.5 years left – woohoo! He is still working in Salt Lake and doing photography on the side. His life is crazy busy so we’re always grateful when we get to just hangout and play with him.

Easter Pictures Family smiling daddy daughter

I’m keeping busy balancing work, home life, church, and everything else life throws my way! I officially took a job as a part time crisis worker in the ED. I’m still at the hospital, but in the ED and not doing PRN work these days. I love it and am glad to have a permanent schedule. I’m working with the 10-11 year old girls at church and I love it, they keep me young!

Overall, life is good. We’re busy, but enjoying most moments and working hard to make the best of the not so fun moments!

Easter Eggs and the Perfect Spring Tee

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter Sunday and overall Easter weekend. We had a great time doing Easter activities and spending time with family. I love Easter so much because it is a set aside time to think about Jesus Christ, but I also love it because it feels like the beginning of spring.

Outside our apple trees are blossoming, the tulips have bloomed, and everything is full of new life and hope. The weather is also a lot warmer so hurrah for that!

We didn’t get around to doing Easter Eggs until Saturday afternoon. It was a crazy morning, but we squeezed some time in before work to hangout as a family and make beautiful eggs!

This year I added extra food coloring to the dyes to make them a little more intense and it worked surprisingly well! It did change some of the original colors, but it was fun to do something different.

We also used pastry brushes to decorate half of our eggs. It gave them that pretty water color / tie dye effect.

Carter thought the pastry brushes were really fun because he got to “paint” the eggs rather than just wait for them to dye. It was a super fun experiment that would be a fun art project any time of the year!

Sometimes I’m not the best at doing art and science projects with my kids, but this really made me want to be better at that! Carter was super interested in dyeing the eggs and did a great job. Amelia had fun watching on and admiring the eggs from afar 🙂

Being a stay at home mom I am always looking for clothing that is comfortable, kid proof, and still looks decent at the end of the day. I picked up this top in this pretty purple (and a few other colors… ) and I am in love with it. It is so soft and comfortable. I wear it all the time! It’s been to the park, Easter egg hunts, work, at home days, and Easter egg dyeing. I found it at my favorite little boutique in Provo – Cozy. If you are familiar with Provo it is by the DownEast and Walmart Marketplace on University Parkway.

I am definitely going to have to go by and get more before she runs out because it is seriously the perfect basic spring tee! I need to see if I can find the same or similar tee online somewhere because it is awesome and online shopping is my jam.

I hope no matter what you did your Easter weekend was great and if you’re in Utah county do yourself a favor and run over to Cozy and stock up on these tee’s. I promise you’ll thank me!

Did you guys do any fun Easter activities this weekend?

Where are your favorite places for comfy basic tees?
